WILD Rice Pudding (with Stevia and Almond Milk)

1 1/2 cups COOKED Wild Rice (I used Lundberg Country Wild)
1 1/2 to 2 cups Almond Milk
1/2 tsp Stevia liquid
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
1 cup black currants
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (or almond) extract
1/4 cup slivered almonds

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups cooked rice, 1 1/2 cups milk, sugar and salt.
Cook over medium heat until thick and creamy, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Stir in remaining 1/2 cup milk (maybe less if it seems watery)
Add the beaten egg and currents.
Cook 2-5 minutes more, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat, and stir in extract and almonds.
Serve warm or cold.

Illustration Friday - CLIQUE

When I checked this weeks subject for Illustration Friday I immediately thought of a movie I had seen
”Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle" (1994)
about the infamous Dorothy Parker and how the Algonquin Round Table developed. This illustration does not intend to depict any of the members of that clique in particular. I just had the feeling of it as I drew...

Illustration Friday - Memories

My dad loved to fish. Afterwards my mom would always take a picture of him with his catch and ultimately with one of us kids by his side. In this photo it was with me.
And as always, we had to be in the sun so we could be "seen" so she could get a "good clear picture", but in the process, we squinted...

This is from an old Polaroid photo, only 2"x2.5"in size. It was actually taken with the original ”Swinger”
Polaroid camera of the 60's my dad bought on a whim.
I scanned it, enlarged it to 8x10, printed it out, painted it with gouache, re-scanned it, then altered it a bit in Photoshop, and back and forth.

Needless to say, I had a bit of fun while re-living the memories...
